Pupils of a Week

This poem formed after my comunity-service-finishing time at Gemito Village, Tengger, Probolinggo, East Java, Indonesia that held 14-20 December 2015. I taught 3 grader in Elementary School. It was such amazing students that I’ve ever met.

There is no time to be murmur, nor to be hopeless. Time after time that they have, they used it for a meaningful thing.

No shoes in feet, no tidy-neat-uniform to wear, no complete-school facilities, no place to play, even no English-course lesson. The building is old, the wall is getting yellow and dirty. it’s only has 7 rooms, including headmaster room. Chalk and wood board, teacher’s desk and garbage place, and wood chair for students. However, it is not the reason for the students to be lazy and hopeless, they have great zeal for learning. I thumb up for them.

I am apprehensive of them. For the first time, I won’t to be a teacher, but when I saw them I realized one important thing form a teacher’s perspective, “Teaching is not only about academic transferring but seeing students as human being and making them as human.”

This special poem for them, my Gemito pupils, 3 grader:

They taught me how to be grateful person..
They taught me how to smile sincerely
They taught me what innocent is
They taught me what tear is
They taught me how to teach heartily…
They taught me what the longing is…
They taught me this feeling that I miss them so much…

Chapter 1 : Everyday Living

Sub-Theme: Everyday Living

There is an eloquence far more powerful than the eloquence of words in the quiet, consistent life of a pure, true Christian. What a man is has more influence than what he says.

The officers who were sent to Jesus came back with the report that never man spoke as He spoke. But the reason for this was that never man lived as He lived. Had His life been other than it was, He could not have spoken as He did. His words bore with them a convincing power, because they came from a heart pure and holy, full of love and symphaty, benevolence and truth.

It is our own character and experience that determine our influence upon others. In order to convince othres of the power of Christ’s grace, we must know its power in our hearts and lives. The gospel we present for the saving of souls must be the gospel by which our souls are saved. Only through a living faith in Christ as a personal Saviour is it possible to make our influence felt in a skeptical world. If we would draw sinners out of the swift-running current, our own feet must be firmly set upon the Rock, Christ Jesus.

The badge of Christianity is not an outward sign, not the wearing of a cross or a crown, but it is that which reveals the union of man woth God. By the power of His grace manifested in the transformation of character the world is to be convinced that God has sent His Son as its Redeemer. No other influence that can surround the human soul has such power as the Continue reading

Nature Oh Nature

If there is free time, I spend my time to go to nature, enjoying fresh air, green view, and close my eyes to listen to wind voice through my skin.

I love alone in  nature. Far away from noisy and ‘hustle and bustle’ sometimes humming bird accompany me.

Most of time I bring my book to read there. However, impression of its beauty turned me of it. Mountain, trees, flowers, birds, grass, small insect, beasts are parts of nature and parts of life lessons that I found unconsciously.

Mountain stood mainly without fear anything.

Tree teaches me live by faith. It alive is only depend on the Creator’s will. If autumn come the leaves will be dropping off and it will be alone. But it never be complain. Birds, they live without sow but they reap. They believe that their Creator will provide their needs.

There is still many lessons that you can find it out through nature.

God gives nature as a lesson. Do not ask me why? Just come to nature and you will find how thankful you are to be there and how great The Monarch of the universe.

Thank you God for being my Creator and for preparing this great nature lesson 🙂

Memoirs in Batam Island

It was in May 12th 2014, after I had finish my final examination when I was in first year in college. Every year when long vacation is close, my campus has a SALE program, Students Literature, where students can be missionaries by selling books. And the amount of money can help their financial to pay tuition in campus. I joined it and I accepted an opportunity to serve in Batam Island.Along 10 weeks I and my friends, Sity Wijayanti explored Batam Island. This is my first time join to a club like missionaries and I felt wonder and blessed.

Every day except Sabbath day, we always walked and visited every place to offer and bring book, health books and spiritual books.

Tirelessly, even when the sweat was wetting our clothing, we didn’t care. We kept walking and tried to smile. Even one of our books was no one selling I tried to believe. I remembered, one day, it was in Thursday, we visited more than 30 houses but no one of our books is purchased. We motivated one and another to always keep smile and humble. Jesus has a great grace for us in the next day. And praise LORD, pray by pray, we conveyed to our Father in heaven and He never forgets us.

We met every people with different background. And we canvass them about health news and show them the true about health and temperance. Some of them could receive our news and there is also rejecting.

10 weeks passed imperceptibly, we arrived in last day. This experience will never forget. God’s love is really true. There is my red umbrella that I used when scorching sun and my black flat obsolete shoes become silent witness in my journey. Thanks God for all your blessing that you have given to me. I met our family in my hometown; You fulfilled all my needs and all fares to hometown and back to campus. Big thanks to You, my GREAT LORD.

When I was at the crossroads of my life in Batam, I found what I was searching for. Instead of becoming a literature, I became a friend of Buddhiest. And now that I am back in Bandung, my campus is, I miss the people I met in Batam.

Would I recommend that you consider becoming a student literature?  Absolutely! And who knows, you might just find what you are meant to do with your life.

Field Trip (Compendium)

Field trip

Field trip is one of my campus events in UNAI (Adventist University of Indonesia). It will be held after mid-term. In my special opinion, fieldtrip is a variety of education. Every faculty is free to choose their destination. Usually, the event is under Dean’s lead. We are from faculty of education, Mathematic and English, recently, visit to UPH and TMII. The students that follow our field trip are not only education’s students but include Economy and Information Technology’s students. And this time, I want to share my first time field trip.

It was in the morning on March, 6th 2014. I woke up at 03.00 am. Can you imagine? Well, I couldn’t say that I am not sleepy but I thought, this is the interesting part. I cleaned up and ready for field trip. The students, Dean, and lecturers, also include me, went to Jakarta by 2 buses at 04.45 am. And you know what? I slept along the road. When I woke up, we stopped in KM 62 for breakfast and then we took off again at 06.00 am.

We arrived in UPH at 09.00 am and the students of Teacher’s College in UPHA welcoming to us. The UPH’s students are humble. We were happy for their services. They brought us to hall; it seemed a hall for worship. At there, we listened to a seminar. We made the seminar like a talk show. So, it was like sharing about our differences of curriculum, about our faculty and we enjoyed it.

After seminar, they served us for lunch snack. We were glad for that. After lunch, they led us for tour campus. The buildings are greatly amazing and the condition of campus is perfectly comfortable. And at 02.46 pm, we left UPH. I hope someday I can visit there again.

On the road to go to TMII, we had lunch box. It made me remember about my study tour when I was in High School. We enjoyed for every seconds in field trip. Meanwhile, we arrived in TMII at 03.00 pm. It was free time. Everyone could visit any place or all of facilities in TMII. I played Kereta Gantung. It was very amazing and fantastic because it was my first time. From above, I could see every place around TMII such as: Mini Culture Buildings, Museums, Lake, Unique Mosque, Church and many more. I also enjoyed by bike. Even though tired and the weather was gloomy but it couldn’t stop my happiness.

At 06.00 pm, we prepared to go to back to campus. it was rainy like my heart felt sad when field trip was in the end. On the road, we had dinner box, too. We arrived in campus at 09.00 pm. Sleepy, tired, but of course yes, happy. I felt blessed for this moment. God gave me a new experience, new thing and new education. I believe all about my life is not only by chance but this is one of God’s plans in my life.

Finally, from my new experience, I realize the education also can find out from education in real life, not only learn from books. If you are student, you can follow my campus event because the goal is not only for having fun but the education is a first goal. Spirit……. Spirit….. Education!!! God bless!

Pursue Your Study in UNAI (Persuassive Essay)

Have you ever visited Adventist University of Indonesia (UNAI)? It is my campus. I am one of students in English Major; and now, I am in first year. I am blessed can to continue my study in UNAI. This campus has a great education services and many program that help student most in their financial problems by adding program called student labor. UNAI has six faculties: Economy, Theology, Information Technic, Education, Science and Nursing. The students, was graduated by UNAI, are working in every place around the world. UNAI teaches you everything; the first is Heavenly education is fear of God, and then world education, also work education.

UNAI has a vision and mission. The vision is UNAI was built by Seventh-day Adventist Church that wants to prepare a Christian Education to all students in the world; and the mission is to prepare a high quality students. The first goal of UNAI is to teach students to fear of God because UNAI is a religious campus. It’s no wonder, every day the students follow worship. Morning worship at 05.00 am, Evening worship at 06.00 pm, PHD worship every Monday, Vesper Worship, and Divine worship every Sabbath. From the daily worship, the students have an equal in their spiritual life and mental; not only in world education. Even though UNAI is a religious campus, but sometimes you’ll find students act like uneducated people. It’s not because of the campus, it depends in their personally.

If you ask me, “How is UNAI’s view?” I have no word to say how great UNAI’s view. Honestly, UNAI is a great campus that I’ve ever visited. It has beautiful view and awesome. Can you imagine a campus that around of mountain? It is UNAI. UNAI is located in Parongpong, Bandung. From UNAI, you can see a beautiful view of Tangkuban Parahu Mountain. That’s why, the weather is extremely cool. When you visit to UNAI, don’t forget your jacket.

UNAI has many facilities such as: dormitory for students, cafeteria, library, academic building, Laboratory Computer, Sport Field, Available Wi-Fi, Chapel, etc. Dormitory available for students, boys dorm and girls dorm. The system in dorm is unique: social holiday. Boys Week and Girls Week. This is a program when the boys/girls for a week can hang-out from campus to provide their needs. If today is boys week, the girls cannot go out from campus and otherwise. If they break the rules, they’ll get punishment. Usually, for girls is cutting grass. And all the rules in UNAI are to lead students in discipline life. When you graduate from UNAI, you’ll become a person ready-use.

In previous, I mentioned about student labor. Student labor is a program that students can get job in every place around campus. I am working in cafeteria UNAI. This work can help me in my financial problem to pay tuition. All students only work for four hour a days and in one kind of jobs. About salary, it has a grade. If you do your work well, you’ll achieve grade A, but otherwise, if you are lazy, probably you get C. The salary, directly, is charged to your account.

UNAI often held events because UNAI has many organizations such as choir, master guide, eden club, and many more. It makes the students become creative. Every Saturday night in Student Center, IMA (Association Student College) held events such as: Hall Got Talent, Culture Nite, Games, etc. Every Sabbath morning, Prayer Circle, always invite all students to follow Bible Mediation. And many more events held in UNAI.

If you choose UNAI as your college, you’ll get interesting life. You can meet people from Sabang-Merauke in different background, culture, language and skin. This is the interesting part. You’ll get a bit problem to adapt but in the end you’ll enjoy it. Many advantages are given by UNAI for you but there is also disadvantage and in my perspective only one; it’s about the weather that sometimes in extreme seasons (rain for a week). If UNAI in rainy seasons, everybody must prepare more jackets because weather is colder.
Finally, I cannot say how I am lucky can continue my study in UNAI. UNAI is deeper teach me about to approach to God and how great Him. Problems often come in life but God’s help always come every day and never late. The best choice in your life is when you choose UNAI as your college. UNAI has a scholarship program, don’t worry about money. Grace is always there and you can realize how God works in your life.
