A GOD’S BIBLE CAMP
On April 6 – 8, 2018, a Youth Bible Camp was held on Teluk Jering, Kampar by SMA Advent Pasir Putih. This was the first Bible camp for the first batch. As one of the teacher in that school, I witnessed how God did work so wonderful to provide everything we needed. I would like to share you a line of the great God’s providence during this event. It should be held on March, yet for a reason, it delayed till April. To be honest, I was disappointed at that time but after that I realized that this was God’ not mine. A week before camp held, I announced to all students in SMA to collect 70k per students based on the budgeting.
A week passed by, Monday came I re-announced this plan and still 17 students paid. I was discouraged; I told to myself “How could this be? Friday is at hand but the money still doesn’t collect completely yet!” We needed Rp. 4.600.000 for this event. Crying out to the Lord is the best thing I know. No one knew my problem but God exactly did! Praise God, He gave me a humble partner to handle my problem. We cooperated together. In the same day, I got news that a pastor willing to be a speaker in our event. And the more wonderful was the ticket was free. Some generous people were willing to pay. Praise God for that news.
On the next day, Tuesday, I asked the treasure about the money, and still 20 students who paid. Deciding to encourage students to join this camp, I entered each class and declared them that this event was held because of their necessary. Keep praying when talking with them, I asked them about the need of transport and light machine, whether they have or not. God has been so good, two of my students handed up and were willing to borrow that kind of stuff. Two problems solved! In the afternoon, I also got info that some of the students couldn’t join this camp for some reasons. Another, some groups had problems with their members. I started distress. One problem still hanged on and the others appeared. Again, I just knelt and bow down before Him. ‘Lord, I am standing for Your promises in 1 Samuel 3:12: When I begin, I will also make an end. I do believe you are working for the good.’
As I told you, God did work greatly, on Wednesday, the committee of YBC and I held a meeting. We needed some amount of money because it did not enough for all things. Hand-in-hand prayer held. God answered. A donator helped us! What a blessing!
On Thursday, the good news touched my ears, 57 students paid and the members’ problem solved! How amazing His hands are! But in the same day, God tested me. The departure ticket of the speaker has not been bought yet. This was a big problem because tomorrow was the day! I just prayed and God answered! But, late of afternoon, the good news flew to me. It has been bought! However, again and again, the blessing (I changed the word problems to blessings because actually they were blessing) appeared. A main tent was needed because in the camp place did not provide a hall or place to be hid from rain or storm. Till late night on Thursday, it could not be found. To solve this, a blue tarpaulin was bought in size 5×7. By faith, it was bought and hoped the rain would not come down in the camp days. At 09.30 pm I found that the light machine did not work and could not be used. Oh God, I was depressed. Tomorrow was the day but the machine could not work! I knelt down and prayed, ask for strength. I do believe God will work miracle!
Opening Ceremony of Bible Camp – SMA ADVENT PASIR PUTIH
The day came! I woke up and thought about the machine. I prayed and cried out to the Lord. I needed God the most! I almost lost my faith. But again and again, He answered me immediately. Someone borrowed that kind of machine freely. Oh God, how great Thou art! All things have been well-prepared. Before leaving, the principal sent prayer for us. We used pick up and truck. When my feet climbed up the truck and it drove, I closed my eyes and sent a silent prayer ‘God, how merciful you are. I can’t thank you enough for this event. This is Yours. This will glorify Your name alone!’ We arrived safely in the camp site. Praise God, all students well cooperated enough. They established their tents. The opening ceremony was held. Well, the blessing came from students. Since the camp site was near to a river, students would take a bath in it. The villagers told us not to swim in the center because the river is so deep. But some of students were so head-strong. I shouted at them when they swam on the center of the river. Moreover, the Sabbath day was at hand and I did not want any students playing around. The weather has been good firstly but suddenly dark cloud covered the sky. I was afraid it would be rain. I prayed silently then the high wind poured. The light rain disappeared. I thanked God. All of us joined Vesper program solemnly.
Prayer Circle in Sabbath Morning
Sabbath greeted us happily. All were truly blessed for the messages that delivered by Pastor Neno. All students and teachers were touched for the truth. On Saturday night, a commitment night by lighting candles was held. The situation was so solemn. Each one held personal prayer under the nature. After that, in bonfire time, students were asked to deliver testimonies about this camp. They witnessed that God is truly great.
Sunday came. While preparing all stuff, students also were tested for their knowledge in scout lesson. Then, closing ceremony was held. After that, enjoying the last minutes, some photographs were captured also, some of students enjoyed swimming at the river. At 01.20 the truck picked us up and finally arrived at 14.30 at school. Happy and blessed!
At last, in the beginning the budget was almost deficit but in the end, God changed everything. The blessings were truly abundant! I THANK GOD SO MUCH!
Here we are SMA ADVENT PASIR PUTIH TEAM!
